Joshua 1:9; NLT
This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
What stood out most to me in this passage of scripture comes at the end, but The Message Translation of it. The end goes like this, it says, “Haven’t I commanded you? Strength! Courage! Don’t be timid; don’t get discouraged. God, YOUR God, is with you every step you take.” I know the context of this deals with Joshua leading the people of Israel to the Promise Land, yet what is your promise land? Is it that job? That place? That relationship? Sometimes we look at what it looks like and we begin to retreat in fear that it won’t happen, or that God not can’t, but won’t do it.
This is where I’m at right now. Adjusting to life after graduation has been tough. A lot of unknowns and the cares and stress of life begin to weigh in. How am I gonna pay for this? When is this job gonna happen? All of the questions you ask and the feelings you feel are natural. However, we have to remember who our God is. We have to take a look at his track record of our life and see that he has yet to fail us. I look back over my life at all of the crazy decisions I made, and how he was still there every step of the way. This move to Florida for school last year was a step of faith, in obedience to what The Lord instructed me to do. Through this last year & a half, he has never failed me yet. Why would he start now?
This wasn’t a long drawn out post, this was just to encourage someone who may be in a season where you’re feeling how I’m feeling. Just remember to stand strong in who you know your God to be. Stand in courage, not timidity and know that The Lord, YOUR God is with you every step of the way.
